For the first 3 months of last year, I was a SAIPA article clerk and my daily work involved:
• Manually capturing bank statements into Sage Pastel
• Performing VAT reconciliations and submitting VAT returns on SARS e-filing
• Preparing management financial statements
• Creating payslips for my client’s employees on Greatsoft payroll, and submitting EMP201’s on their behalf
• Ensuring that my clients had paid SARS before each deadline
• Following up with SARS on behalf of my clients when refunds were delayed

I then transferred to SAICA articles, which involved a considerable increase in auditing. Throughout the past 11 months, I have performed audits, interim audits, independent reviews, compilations and submitted income tax returns.
