I have been completing my SAICA articles over the past 3 years. I have been involved in external auditing and non-assurance services predominantly in the financial services sector with diverse clients.
These clients include:

SANLAM DEVELOPING MARKETS (SDM):
I was assigned the role of lead supervisor. This role entailed managing the lower level trainees in the audit by assisting them with more technical tasks as well as ensuring that they are on track to meet deadlines
I was exposed to the insurance industry on this client which included assessing some of the intricacies of long term policy liabilities while working with an actuarial team, testing and assessing the premiums and investments ( IFRS 9) of an insurance company which are crucial to its operations.


INVESTEC WEALTH AND INVESTMENT INTERNATIONAL
This client gave me exposure and knowledge over the stockbroking industry. Furthermore, I was also involved in some agreed upon procedures and non-assurance services relating to the regulatory requirements that stockbrokers are required to abide by.
I also had the role of a supervisor where I was responsible for leading the team and ensuring that the lower level trainees met their allocated deadlines


JOHANNESBURG STOCK EXCHANGE (JSE)
I was involved in performing agreed upon procedures relating to the AGM of the Johannesburg Stock exchange.


OLD MUTUAL SPECIALISED FINANCE
I have been selected to be a part of the Old Mutual Specialised finance audit team for the last 5/6 weeks of audit articles.
Through discussions with management on the team it will entail auditing financial instruments and applying valuation techniques


ILLOVO SUGAR AFRICA (Pty) Ltd ( sole retail client).
This retail client exposed me to instances whereby I assessed IFRS 9 impairments and bonus provision policies and calculations.

The audits/ assurance engagements have been mainly IFRS audits where technical concepts have been assessed. Aside from the IFRS technicalities, the experience I have had has also included supervising the audit as well as assisting, leading and guiding the lower level trainees.
