-Selected to be a member of the Financial Engineering Group in 2021. Only the
top 10% of the trainees in the firm are selected to be part of this business unit. This specialist unit is employed by the audit team to value complex financial instruments that require mathematical modeling and critical analysis. This includes the valuation of exotic financial instruments, valuing using discounted cashflows and valuation software scoping the client's instruments which entails classifying the instruments and formulating a testing approach or each instrument class and credit spread testing which detailed credit risk analysis.
•FEG client work was done in overtime, in addition to working on my audit clients during the day.
•Key responsibilities included project and client management, below mentioned valuations and providing coaching to junior team members
•Asset management clients included: ABSA Unit Trust, Coronation, and Ninety-One
ABSA UNIT TRUST
• Led the FEG team
• Completed the credit spread testing which includes in depth research and
calculations to determine the credit risk of unlisted debt instruments.
• Valued majority of the client’s instruments, manually using discounted
cashflow calculations and Spiral (valuation software).
• Showed proficiency in the application of mathematical modeling principles by
building prime curves to value prime-linked floating rate notes.

• 2U is a tech company that provides online University courses in collaboration with leading Universities worldwide.
• Gained extensive experience in Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) controls testing, which is conducted in line with PCAOB requirements, as the group is listed on the NASDAQ (2U Inc). Showing a strong understanding of the application of GAAP as well as IFRS.
• Primary areas of audit focus included testing the investment in subsidiaries by recalculating a discounted cashflow to determine the investment value, and tested revenue, payables, and human resources.
IMPERIAL LOGISTICS
• Imperial is in the largest logistics company in Africa and this was a first year audit
• Led the engagement and developed innovative audit approaches showing strong
problem-solving skills as this was a new audit client.
• Key responsibilities included project and client management, revenue testing,
payroll, planning activities, group reporting deliverables and providing coaching to junior team members. Group deliverables included preparing all the signing documentation such as the financial reporting packs, audit difference schedules, management representation letters, subsequent event documentation as well as the management recommendation letter points.
UNITRANS SUPPLY CHAIN SOLUTIONS
• USCS is the second largest logistics company in South Africa and the audit covers approximately 25 entities.
• Key responsibilities included project and client management, taxation, planning activities, group reporting deliverables and providing coaching to junior team members. Group deliverables included preparing all the signing documentation such as the financial reporting packs, audit difference schedules, management representation letters, subsequent event documentation as well as the management recommendation letter points.

• Elected to be a senior committee member of the Trainee Accounting Society (TAS) which is a networking platform for CA(SA) trainee accountants in the Western Cape.
