Other Things to Note.
Yes, there's more.
I also gained valuable experience working as a Student Assistant. In this role, I supported faculty and administrative staff with various tasks such as organizing materials, assisting with student queries, and helping to coordinate events. This position helped me develop strong organizational and communication skills while contributing to the smooth running of academic activities.
University Leadership.
Taking Charge.
Leadership 1
Peer Facilitator for First Year Students (Orientation Period, February 2024)
During the orientation period in February 2024, I had the opportunity to serve as a Peer Facilitator for first year students. My role was to help new students feel welcome and supported as they navigated the exciting but sometimes overwhelming start of university life. I led informal meet-ups, answered questions, and shared tips to help them settle in smoothly. It was a short but meaningful experience, and I enjoyed being a friendly face and guide during such an important time for them.
Awards: I completed a Peer Facilitator training offered by the University of the Western Cape during the orientation period in February 2024, which equipped me with key skills to support first-year students. I received a certificate recognizing my role as an accredited Peer Facilitator.
Leadership 2
Awards: I completed tutoring training at UWC, after which I was awarded a certificate acknowledging my readiness and skills as a tutor.
Tutor (February 2024 – December 2024)
From February through December 2024, I worked as a tutor, supporting students in mastering their coursework and building confidence. I ran both individual and group sessions, breaking down challenging topics into manageable parts and encouraging open questions. My goal was always to create a positive and engaging learning environment where students felt comfortable and motivated. Watching their progress and growing self assurance was incredibly rewarding.
